Let’s Meet in the City
There are plenty of reasons to hold your event in the metro area: the central location, easy access to dining and entertainment
options and the hustle and bustle of the big city. We shine the spotlight on a few options around the Twin Cities.
Bank On It
The Hotel Minneapolis opened just over a year
ago in the 10-story Richardsonian-Romanesque
building that originally housed the Security
National Bank starting in 1906. The hotel offers
a winning combination of historic charm and
modern comfort, plus 3,000 square feet of event
space. “Our expertise is in the small-meeting
market accommodating small meetings of
30 to 40 people,” says general manager Brian
Schmechel. On the hotel’s lower level, an executive board room and four meeting rooms are
all equipped with the most modern audiovisual
capabilities, while “many of the old historic bank
features were tastefully integrated into the more
sophisticated décor,” Schmechel says. The hotel
also features restaurant Max, which offers fresh
lifestyle cuisine and an extensive wine list in an
elegant, yet welcoming atmosphere.
Located in the heart of downtown
Minneapolis, the hotel is at the center of the
city’s business and cultural communities, situated just blocks from the light rail transit line
for easy access to and from Minneapolis-St.
Paul International Airport and Mall of America.
Tying all these features together is The Hotel
Minneapolis’ impeccable service. “Our staff
demonstrates high energy and a true passion for
hospitality,” Schmechel says. Between the location, service and amenities, it’s no surprise The
Hotel Minneapolis is currently ranked in the top
three of all Doubletree Hotels in the world for
delivering guest satisfaction.
Epicurean Events
You’ve probably taken your spouse or business
partners to one of Parasole’s restaurants, but did
you know you can bring your whole event there?
The array of options includes Uptown’s hipster-chic Chino Latino, the French-American cuisine of Salut, the quaint elegance of Muffuletta,
the comfort of Pittsburgh Blue Steakhouse,
the decadence of Manny’s and the glamour
of Prohibition and Living Room lounges at
W Minneapolis—The Foshay. “Whether you’re
celebrating with up to 25 business associates
at Manny’s or heating things up for a birthday
or bachelorette party for up to 100 at Living
Room or Prohibition at the W Minneapolis,
Parasole has the perfect venue for any occasion,” says director of business development
Amanda Lange.
She stresses that the Parasole staff is “fun to
work with, loyal and empowered to guarantee
the success of your event.” And the success of
your event is Parasole’s top priority. “One of the
10 Parasole Points of Difference is: ‘Treat every
complaint as an opportunity,’” Lange says. One
of Lange’s favorite examples of a tailor-made
Parasole event was an annual sales dinner
held by Lexus of Wayzata at Maple Grove’s
Pittsburgh Blue Steakhouse. Although the space
usually holds 40, the staff was able to make
adjustments and accommodate a few more
attendees. “We made it work for our guests,”
Lange says. “Everyone had a great time. We have
received many referrals from that event.”
Historic Elegance
Since 1910, the historic Saint Paul Hotel has
served as St. Paul’s premier home away from
home for famous cultural icons as well as travelers simply seeking an incomparable lodging
experience. Thanks to a renovation in 1982,
the 254-room hotel exudes all the charm and
sophistication it did when it first opened as the
city’s “Million Dollar Hotel.” “We are tremendously excited to celebrate our centennial next
year,” says general manager David Miller. “We’re
very busy planning all sorts of ways to commemorate this milestone.”
The Saint Paul Hotel offers eight event spaces
that can accommodate up to 260 people for
meetings and 350 for private dining. The hotel’s
location across from picturesque Rice Park
allows easy access to entertainment options
including the Ordway Center for the Performing
Arts, historic Landmark Center, Xcel Energy
Center and several of the city’s best museums.
The hotel is also home to one of the city’s finest restaurants, The St. Paul Grill. However,
Miller says the hotel’s single greatest attribute
is its unmatched hospitality, which continually impresses guests. “Our staff consistently
provides some of the best service in the upper
Midwest,” he says. That top-notch service had to
be in full force during the Republican National
Convention, Miller says. “Our staff has never
been that busy before, but with careful planning
and complete flexibility, we were able to work
within all of the guidelines.”
