Project
Yourself
Last fall, Texas Instruments (TI) teased
audiences at a Pepcom event with its prototype of an in-handset cell phone projector, which would make it easy for you to
show your friends or business associates
the photos or videos you have on your
cell phone by projecting them up on the
wall. It’s been a long wait since then, but
most recently TI partnered with Optoma,
a Silicon Valley-based manufacturer of
digital display products and home entertainment projectors, and developed the
first Pico handheld projector. Smaller
than a PDA and weighing in at around
four ounces, the Optoma Pico Projector
partners with cell phones, iPods and
digital cameras to share images and video
up to 100 times larger than the screen on
the source device. By using LED and DLP
technologies, the device projects clear,
vivid images. The Pico Projector will be
available in the United States in 2009.
